Supply Strategies can work with you at any stage of the sourcing process, but a typical project works as follows:
A. Initial product assessment and quotation
- Help customer identify the best products for outsourcing with our current capabilities
- Work with customer to define & qualify new capabilities.
- Coordinate with customer for initial product quotation using our Request for Quotation (RFQ) including key items such as:
- Product drawings (CAD, Pro E or other common design software)
- Product samples
- Material requirements & specifications
- Production requirements including tooling or mold requirements
- Quality Control requirements
- Quantity specifications
- Packaging requirements
- Provide customer with initial Product Quotation
- Coordinate initial pre-production sample & formalized product quotation .
- Conduct product testing if required .
- Final review & sign off by customer of pre-production sample prior to production.
- Conduct review of duty rates and if visa or quota apply to product category.
- Finalize product quotation and purchase order.
B. Program Management
- Develop initial plan with customer for timing of production, quality control and delivery. For blanket purchase orders develop schedule with overseas factories for timing of material purchases, level of staffing, quality control measures required and delivery schedule.
- Conduct quality inspections during production of the product and prior to delivery.
- Provide frequent updates to customer related to production, quality control and delivery status.
- Negotiate with freight forwarders for most cost effective rates. Coordinate delivery schedule including advance bookings of shipments and customs documents required.
- Coordinate final delivery to customer location.
- Continuously meet with customer to obtain feedback on program management and product quality and discuss new opportunities for sourcing.
